Description
This Fairytale-themed resource includes 3 STEM Challenges based on different fairytales: Rapunzel, Jack and the Beanstalk and The Three Billy Goats Gruff.
Each challenge focuses on physical science (specifically force) and chemical science (properties of materials) concepts, as well as mathematics concepts of measurement and space. This aligns with the Foundation – Year 2 curriculum (4-7 year olds) but would be enjoyable for children aged 4-10 years old.
These resources support childrens’ learning through engaging explicit instruction, clearly modelled examples and hands-on investigations.
What’s included:
- A comprehensive Teacher’s Guide, including suggestions and teaching and curriculum connections (Australian Curriculum V9)
- A set of Slides for each of the three STEM challenges, including explicit teaching and modelling of Science and Mathematics concepts, as well as the ‘Maker Cycle’, which supports students’ critical thinking and reflection throughout the challenges.
- The Maker Cycle posters: Circle icons (2 per A4 page) and Maker Cycle circular diagram (A4)
Format: pdf
