WOMINJEKA (WELCOME). We acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Bunurong peoples, the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land on which The Maker Difference and our family lives, works and plays – Naarm (Melbourne).

In a Makerspace, we learn by creating and engineering collaboratively. We acknowledge and pay respect to the Indigenous first Scientists and Engineers who were some of the greatest minds of their time. They created tools we currently use for teaching and learning in schools today. The voices and designs of Indigenous people still remain and are passed on from generation to generation.

We pay respect to Elders past, present and future. This always was and always will be Aboriginal Land.

What People Say

It’s Me, Hi!

Emma Ross

Director & Principal Consultant

I am award-winning educator and a dynamic, creative thinker with excellent interpersonal skills. I have 12 years classroom teaching experience in Victoria, Queensland and Northern Territory (so I know the importance of practical PD from a teacher’s perspective!). I have worked with leadership teams and teachers to support STEM programs, set up Makerspaces and deliver professional development on student voice. I have also worked with Cambridge Education to deliver professional development for graduate teachers across Victoria.

My passion for innovative education and belief in the benefit of STEM programs and Makerspace learning environments has led me to complete a Masters of Education and conduct case study research on Makerspaces. This resulted in the creation of my evidence-based Makerspace Pedagogical Framework, which is used in schools today.

I deliver high quality, evidence-based, practical professional learning for teachers and school leaders that is user-centred and sustainable.
